I am delighted to share a new album by the Choir of St. Paul’s Burlingame which highlights works of women composers and poets, including the first three commissions underwritten by the Marcia McCowin Estate Fund.
The title track, A Great Host, is a setting of Psalm 68:11b written for the Choir of St. Paul’s to sing on 2020 International Women’s Day by Patricia Van Ness: “A great host of women bring the glad tidings.” Great Host has been released as a limited-edition vinyl and may be streamed on your favorite platform, including Spotify.
I continue to update A Great Host of Women Composers database, with suggestions for sacred choral music by women for the three years of the Revised Common Lectionary, with additional sheets listing masses, evening canticles, responses, and Anglican chant.
